The VIX, or CBOE Volatility Index chart measures volatility.

Typically it measures the S & P 500 volatility.

Due to the coronavirus that happens recently, the VIX is hitting up to 19 on 27 Jan.

Today, 28 Jan, the VIX has dropped slightly to about 16, but it is still high.

When VIX is high, the share price can still fluctuate wildly.

It is also not a good time to buy options.

The options price will be expensive to buy.

Selling options will be better as you can collect a higher premium.
